When we talk about Desi Hip-hop or Punjabi Rap Industry then one name comes to the top of the list and his name is Bohemia. He started his music career in 2002 and till now no one has come who can replace him or recreate the same magic that he created. Until now, Bohemia has done many albums, single tracks, and collaborations in this industry. Bohemia enjoys enormous popularity in the masses. Despite getting born in Pakistan the Indian people mostly Punjabi people love him most.
Life Journey of Rap Star Bohemia
Bohemia was born on 15 October 1979 in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. His real name is Roger David. He was born in a Punjabi Christian family and did his schooling in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Roger’s stage name is Bohemia. He loves music since his childhood. When he was 14 years old, he went to America with his whole family. By seeing his towards music Bohemia’s father gifted, him a small piano. The disturbing face started in bohemia’s life when he was only 15 years old and his mother died after that he started fighting with his father and left the house when he was only 16 years old.
In one interview Bohemia tells that when he left his house, he has only 25 cents in his pocket and he was very hungry that he brought a packet of chewing gum and swallow all the chewing gum. This is what he can buy in his 25 cents. By seeing other kinds around him he feels very bad. After that, he started living with his friends. Punjabi folks’ music inspired Bohemia. During that time he got more interested in music and then he started doing rap in Punjabi. For doing rap in Punjabi first bohemia learn the Punjabi language because his Punjabi language was very weak at that time. He started performing at birthday parties with his other friends using his small piano for some free food and for money to survive. Things were going well for him and his life was changing but then someone murdered his close friend.
After the death of his close friend bohemia started to live in fear that someone will also kill him like how his friend got killed. After fighting his fear bohemia dropped his first album. Because he thinks that if he also got killed. He would leave his musical legacy behind him that people will always remember. Bohemia got married to Sunny David in 2017 and Sunny also is Bohemia’s Manager.
Musical Career of Bohemia
In 2002 Bohemia dropped his first album “Vich Pardesan De”. Under the label The Outfit Entertainment. Bohemia dropped his second album in 2006 “Pesa Nasha Pyar” under Universal Music. This was the first album that any international label released by a Punjabi. Bohemia’s third album came in 2009 “Da Rap Star” under Universal Music. His fourth album came in 2012 “Thousand Thoughts” under Sony Music India. His fifth album came in 2017 “Skull & Bones: The Final Chapter under T-Series. Bohemia’s latest album came in 2022 “I Am I.C.O.N: In control of nothing under Geetmp3. Till now bohemia has done many collaborations with famous Punjabi artists with songs like Car Nachdi with Gippy Grewal, Jaguar with Sukh-E, Patola with Guru Randhawa, and Pagol with Deep Jandu, Same Beef and These Days with Sidhu Moose Wala, Tu Te Kehndi C with Divine in his latest album.
Debut in Bollywood, Awards & Nominations
In the year 2009 bohemia debuted in Bollywood in the movie “Chandni Chowk to China” as a rapper and sing the title track of the movie. He now raps in many Bollywood movies like 8X10 Tasveer, Breakaway, Desi Boyz, Dishoom, & Street Dancer 3D. Bohemia also works in the Punjabi movie Faraar.
The third album of Bohemia named “Da Rap Star” got nominated for Best International Album at UK Asian Music Awards. His album “Thousand Thoughts” won Best International Album at PTC Punjabi Music Awards in 2013. The song “Jaguar” also got nominated in Best Duo at PTC Punjabi Music Awards in 2016. His Song “Patola” won the award of Best Duo at PTC Punjabi Music Awards in 2016. Bohemia also has a record label The Kali Denali Music.
Bohemia did lots of struggle in his old days. He tells all of us only one thing that never gives up in any condition of your life and do hard work in your life rather you achieve something or not. We hope bohemia always inspired and entertains all of us in the coming years.
