History of Davenport FL
Well the history of Davenport FL is quite interesting. This area was established in the year 1838. It was the time of the Second Seminole War and the US military set up Fort Davenport. That fort was 12 miles away and located in the north part of the present location of Davenport. Fort Davenport was 20 miles in between Fort Brooke and Fort Mellon. The fort persisted for a few years. Colonel William Davenport was honored with the name of the fort. He served as a U.S. commander in the war.
In the 1880s when the South Florida Railroad extended to Davenport the modern city was established. This settlement is known as Horse Creek. Later a post office was established in 1884 at Horse Creek which is known as Davenport. In 1926 the downtown area was altered with a new station. It was ceased in 1970.

In 2004 this hospital extended its services. A medical office building, cardiac catheterization lab, and emergency department were established in 2007. It expanded the building to the fourth and fifth floors. These were used for surgery in Joint & Spine Centers. Rooms for women were also there. From 2013 to 2019 massive growth was suspect in AdventHealth Heart of Florida. Interventional radiology and cardiac electrophysiology, MRI started during this time. Health Management Associates sold Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center to Community Health Systems on January 27, 2014. In Nov 2022 worked on the expansion of its emergency department. Its construction is completed in 2023.
